The roll cure is an ancient home remedy that has recently become very modern again. The prefix "roll" comes from the fact that the executors roll back and forth after the specified time during application or turn to the other side. The suffix "Kur" means that this home remedy should be used regularly over a certain period of time. The roll cure is carried out with chamomile tea, linseed or licorice root.

  • The roll cure has proven itself as a home remedy, particularly against gastritis, but also against other gastrointestinal complaints.
  • The roll cure is always carried out according to a certain procedure and can be used for up to four weeks.

The real chamomile

In the past, chamomile tea was practically drunk as a normal drink, for example for dinner, without really being aware of the effects of this plant. Tea is also offered to patients in hospitals today without paying any attention to what chamomile can actually do. It has a relaxing and deflating effect. It develops its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anti-irritant effect on mucous membranes.

Internally, chamomile is often used for gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) and enteritis (inflammation of the intestine). When taking it, however, it should be noted that it must not take place continuously for longer than six weeks. The actually positive effect could change to the contrary.

Linseed

Flax seeds are known to be used for constipation. Her swelling ability stimulates the intestinal peristalsis. The linseed mucus also helps with acute gastric mucosa and intestinal inflammation. This covers the mucous membranes like a protective shield, binds bacterial toxins and develops its anti-inflammatory effect there.

The licorice root

Everyone knows licorice - this is obtained from the juice of the dried licorice roots. The licorice root has an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant and protects the mucous membranes. Their use is helpful for inflammation of the stomach and also for ulcers in the stomach and small intestine. Since this plant has a mineralocorticoid-like effect, it must not be used, especially over a long period, by people suffering from potassium deficiency, high blood pressure or from edema. Furthermore, pregnant women, patients with liver disease or severe kidney dysfunction should not take licorice root.

When a roll cure is indicated

Recurring stomach pain, a burning sensation in the stomach, nausea, general malaise and possibly also vomiting - this could hide an inflammation of the stomach. If symptoms are mentioned, especially if they have been around for a long time, a doctor should be consulted. A distinction is made between different types of gastritis - however, this can only be determined by a thorough, detailed examination.

Even if the doctor usually prescribes medication - as a home remedy, the roll cure is a good, helpful accessory to help the stomach. This cure can be used particularly well when bed rest is indicated.

Stomach problems often arise from nutritional errors. Too hasty food, spicy foods, coffee, nicotine, alcohol - but also stress and hectic pounding can hit the stomach. Here the roll cure has a calming effect on the stomach and is just good for you.

Course of the cure

The roll cure is best carried out every morning for up to four weeks, and always according to the same principle, regardless of whether you are taking the course with chamomile tea, linseed or licorice root tea.

  • Lie on your back in a relaxed and comfortable way - don't forget the blanket - and stay there for ten minutes.
  • Then "roll" to the right side - stay there again for ten minutes.
  • Then roll to the left and hold the position for ten minutes.
  • Finally, try lying on your stomach for another ten minutes.
  • The whole thing is followed by a half hour rest.

You will now think "I don't have that much time in the morning". However, these times are based on the claim that the entire mucous membrane of the stomach should be wetted so that the cure really helps. It is also important to keep warm all the time. During the break, it is best to put a warm, moist wrap on your stomach and a hot water bottle over it.

If you don't have time for this application in the morning, do it in the evening. It is only important that the last meal was a few hours ago.

Rollkur with chamomile tea

For the chamomile tea, two tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers are brewed with a liter of boiling water. After ten minutes the tea is ready and is filled into a thermos to keep warm. To support the effect of the chamomile tea, a few drops of chamomile tincture (up to 20 drops) can be added to the jug. However, this does not have to be the case. Try out what suits you best. Drink two cups of tea on an empty stomach in the morning and then the cure can begin. You drink the rest of the tea at noon, in the afternoon and in the evening before going to sleep.

Rolling cure with linseed

The mucilage in the flaxseed can calm the irritated stomach. However, the flaxseed has to be prepared a little for the cure. Put three tablespoons of whole flaxseed in a large glass, fill with warm water and leave it in a warm place. The flaxseed settles on the ground over time and the water becomes cloudy and slimy. The whole thing takes about four to six hours. Then drain the water and the roll cure can begin. In the morning, the liquid is drunk in sips on an empty stomach and the roll cure is carried out as described above under "Course of the cure". The flax of the linseed can also be mixed with chamomile tea.

Roll cure with licorice root

If you don't like chamomile or flaxseed, you can do the roll cure with licorice root, provided that the above-mentioned contraindications do not exist. For the licorice tea, a heaping teaspoon of licorice root is poured over with 150 ml of boiling water. The tea is ready after a brewing time of around eight to ten minutes. Drink the cup in small sips and off you go with the roll cure. (see "Course of the cure"). In addition, one to two cups of tea a day after meals are recommended. The licorice tea should never be drunk for more than four weeks.

General tips

If you have chosen the roll cure, you should also pay attention to other things such as

  • healthy, gentle food,
  • take enough time to eat and chew long enough
  • Avoid alcohol,
  • to avoid hot spices,
  • Avoid coffee or at least don't drink on an empty stomach,
  • Do not lie down immediately after meals, but keep your upper body high for about twenty minutes.

Since stomach problems are often combined with stress and hectic pace, relaxation methods such as yoga, meditation, autogenic training, breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation also help. (sw)
